Who can see my profile?
Only people you're eligible to match with inside the app. Your profile is never searchable on Google, never indexed by search engines, and never visible to anyone who isn't signed into Gaydar.
Can Gaydar staff see my messages?
Messages are encrypted in transit and at rest, but they are not end-to-end encrypted. Automated screening checks conversations for illegal activity, abuse and threats to minors, and our Trust & Safety team may review a conversation those systems flag or that you report.
Do you sell data to advertisers?
No. We don't sell your data. Your orientation, gender identity, HIV status, messages and photos are never shared with ad networks or data brokers. Gaydar makes money from Pro subscriptions; the Free tier may show ads in the future, and Pro removes them. You can opt out of any sharing for advertising in the app or on our privacy request form.
What data do you collect?
Your phone number (to verify your account), your location (to show people and places near you), the profile details you choose to share, and how you use the app. Read the full list in our privacy policy.
What happens when I delete my account?
Your profile, photos, messages, matches, vault content and IRL history are purged from our systems within 30 days. We keep only the few records the law or safety requires, such as a hash of your phone number so a deleted account can't be impersonated. Our privacy policy lists each one and how long it is kept.
Who processes your data?
We use a small number of providers to run Gaydar, for things like hosting, text messages, safety screening, translation and our AI help chat. Each one gets only the data its job needs. We never sell data, and we never give it to data brokers.
